Round 1: Deciding your next set
Hevy shows what you lifted last time and leaves the next step to you; its Pro tier adds an adaptive trainer. Defiant fits a strength model to each lift from your sets, reps in reserve and how much you fade between sets, then gives every set a weight and rep target inside its rep range. After each set, the next target is recalculated, so a bad first set changes the rest of the workout, and every target has a "Why this target?" explanation.

Round 2: Logging
Hevy's logging is fast, polished and battle-tested by a huge user base, with warm-ups, supersets, RPE and notes. Defiant logs the same things and adds a rest timer in the Dynamic Island, but it hasn't had years of feedback from millions of lifters yet.

Round 3: Community
Hevy has a social feed where you follow friends, see their workouts and copy their routines. Defiant has no social features at all; your training stays on your phone.

Round 4: Devices
Hevy runs on iPhone, iPad, Android, the web and Apple Watch. Defiant is iPhone and Apple Watch only, and needs iOS 26.1 or later.

Round 5: Price
Hevy Pro is one of the cheapest subscriptions in fitness: $23.99 a year, $2.99 a month, or $74.99 for life. Defiant is free during early access and the first 1,000 downloads keep Pro free for life; after that it's $69.99 a year. Unless you're one of the first 1,000, Hevy costs less.

Round 6: Everything else
Defiant keeps separate gyms with their own equipment and machine history, runs with a GPS map and splits inside any workout, and guided stretching and warm-ups with a voice coach. It doesn't need an account. Hevy's strengths are elsewhere.

Questions
Is Defiant better than Hevy?
For deciding the weight and reps of every set, yes: that's what Defiant is built for, and Hevy leaves it to you on the free tier. For a social feed, Android or the web, or the lowest price, Hevy is the better pick.
Can I import my Hevy workouts into Defiant?
Yes. Export workouts from Hevy's settings and choose the file in Defiant under Settings → Your data → Import from another app. Every set comes across, and your first targets are based on it.
Does Defiant have a social feed like Hevy?
No. Defiant has no social features and no account; your data stays on your iPhone and in your iCloud.
Can I use both?
Yes, though you'd log twice. Some people keep Hevy for the feed and log in Defiant for the targets, then re-import Hevy history when they switch for good.
